Kufri is a small hill station at a height of 2,510 m and is at a distance of around 12 km from the destination. The name of the site is derived from the word 'Kufr' meaning “lake” in the native language. Kufri is popular for the Himalayan Nature Park which is home to rare antelopes, felines, and birds. It also provides shelter to the Himalayan Monal, the state bird of Himachal Pradesh. The Indira Tourist Park is situated in proximity to the Himalayan National Park. The park has a popular coffee shop, also known as Cafe Lalit, which is run by the Himachal Tourism Board. The Chini Bungalow, Fagu, and Chail are some of the other attractions located in the vicinity of Kufri.

This temple has the world's largest Hanuman statue, which is visible from most parts of Shimla. Visit the temple, to view this statue upright and strain your neck a bit admiring its magnificence. One can also get a panoramic view of the Shivalik ranges and the town of Sanjauli from the temple. According to the legend that surrounds this temple, Lord Hanuman stopped at this spot to take some rest before resuming his search for the Sanjeevani Booti to revive Lord Lakshman.

Mashru peak is the highest point here and one can reach by trekking upto that point. Otherwise, Kufri itself is very cold and is used as a ski ground during winters. Originally built as a residence of Lord Kitchener of Khartoum, this building is said to have been a favorite retreat of Lord Ripon. However, the building got burnt in 1993 and a new Wildflower building was built as a hotel there by a joint venture between HP government and Oberoi group of Hotels. This hotel is located in Chharabra area of Shimla, around 13 km from the main town.
